match report
Braughing Rovers vs Saracens
Saracens arrived for this game knowing it was a must win match going into next weeks game. With 2 influential players missing from the midfield Saracens again shuffled the deck to good effect.

The game started at the usual pace with the usual 1st chance forcing a good save from the goalkeeper. Saracens took this game by the scruff of the neck and were pushing constantly for the goals with some good saves from the keeper keeping the score at 0-0 Saracens got their first after Spencer was able to beat the offside trap and confidently round the goalkeeper to make it 0-1 with Saracens now flying the second wasn’t long in coming with Andy controlling well on the edge of the area to loop his shot around the keeper into the top corner. 0-2

Saracens pressed hard for more before halftime but were unable to add to their goal tally.

The second half started quickly with Saracens looking for their third which wasn’t to far in when Spencer again was able to pick up after another ball that was delivered from Ross on the right hand side to make it 0-3 Saracens.

Saracens were working extremely well and playing for each other with Ross having a blinder on the right he had the measure of his guy all day. From his work again he got to the by line to pull the ball back to Andy whos shot crashed back off the bar for Spencer to shimmer the goalkeeper and make it 0-4 and his hatrick.

Saracens did start to get a bit sloppy in places which did allow them a way back into the game albeit an own goal after Rob blasted the ball into Marks face it flew back off him and into the back of the net.

Not a problem though Saracens got back together and started looking at some good possession play before Ross set off on another mazy run, hitting the byline before playing the ball across for Spencers 4th and Saracens 5th 1-5.

Braughing did play well in places with some very good last ditch tackling keeping the score down. They did get their 2nd of the match after a long ball over the top was met with their forward and Millsy flattening each other. It was adjudged that Millsy had fouled the player inside the box so the penalty was awarded and duelly converted with Millsy very unlucky after getting a hand to it. 2-5.

Saracens settled into keep ball to see the rest of the game out with Rob still mobile around Midfield and Danny still looking for openings but the game filtered out to finish 2-5.

Manager Martin Southall said “It was nice to get the goals we have been craving with the team really starting to click now, with players missing changes were made and the players that were moved around did not disappoint with some very good performances. The two goals we conceded were unfortunate although an o.g and a dubious penalty decision, but we won’t dwell on them, that’s football. Good hard work won this match so well done lads & well done to Braughing who fought all the way to the end.”
